Farewell 2012

This year has been a fun year. I have learnt allot of new things like about film making and art.

I've had a lot of highlights this year and this is just some or them.  One of the highlights this year was camp because it was really fun, and we got to bond as a class more. I also got to get out of my comfort zone.
                                                                                                                                                                                          Another highlight has been all of the art this year it has been fun.  I liked the mosaics the best.  Also another highlight has been the first trip we went to which was the Ngati Toa Damian trip because that is where I meet most of my friends.
                                                                                                                                                                                   Some of my low lights this year have been speeches because i think they are pointless and I don't like speaking infront of people.  Another low light has been woodwork because I wasn't very good at it  and most the things I made failed.

I am very sad to be leaving  Tawa Intermediate, because that means I have to leave my year 7 friends behind.   I feel nervous as well because I'll be going to college and it is really big so I will probably get lost and wont know were I'm going.

Overall an awesome year.  Merry Christmas and happy new year!

Chipmunks

13th of October was the day of my little sister Sienna's party at Chipmunks.  ''Great, I have to spend my day with a bunch of 5-6 year olds making sure they don't hurt themselves on the huge playground'' I think to myself as we were driving to to Chipmunks.  It wasn't long until we've reached chipmunks, my dad parks the car and we get out.

When we reach the door dad opens it and a wall of noise hits me, screaming, shouting, and crying all at once.  I look over and see the a huge slide and different play areas, it was the first time i have been here so i was surprised at the place.

we sit at a table that has a sign that reads, ''reseved for sienna's birthday party.'' We sit and realise that some of sienna's friends were already here and are playing at the playground. ''Go do your job and supervise them'' Dad Say's so i do what I'm told and and follow sienna to the playground, i  didn't really want to go through all the the little tunnels because i would feel a bit claustrophobic but i occasionally go through big ones.

After all the kids arrived they all played until i went around telling them it was  time to eat. We ate in party room 2 or 1  i don't remember, and when we are just about to eat cake a weird guy in a chipmunk suit comes in with a lady, ''if you sing happy birthday really loud charlie the chipmunk will dance for you'' Say's the lady, so when we begin to sing he starts to dance. i found him almost scary but the kids loved him.

The kids played more until there parents come to pick them up, the party finished at 2:00pm but one kids father didn't come till 3:00pm.

The party wasn't as bad as i thought, the kids were cute and funny, so my day wasn't that bad, but still, i have another party to go to and that was Zoe's sleepover.

Outlook For Some Day Reflection

In room 13 we have entered the outlook for someday movie compition,
my movie is called water poullition, I made It along with Renee, Lily, Be, and Ruby.
Our movie Is about a news show and the news show dose a report on water pollution, the news reporter crosses over to bubbles the fish, to interview some fish swimming about in the sea and what they think of water poullition.

Something that I learned from this project that I did not know before was that China dose the most damage to the ocean.
Process: I learned how to add the photos to the green screen
The part of this project that was the most challenging for me was finding coulors that I can use for my fish so It did'nt blend with the green screen.
The part of this project I found most rewarding was when we finished It
The thing I need to improve on the most is planning before my movie.
The thing I found that I am really good at Is face painting.
If I had to do another outlook for someday movie, the things I would do differntly are:
Planing before I start my movie.
Have more info in my movie.
Try to get my message more clear.

Art Splash

Yesterday I went to  Art Splash with the rest of the Tawa Intermediate drama academy.
If you don't know what Art Splash is, It Is a place were people perform drama or dance and it is also fun to watch aswell, we watched  some performances from different schools, I didn't get some of them because they were confusing but oh well.
When It was our turn to perform It was really fun, there were lots of mistakes but It was fine,
we got allot of laughs from the crowd and everyone really enjoyed them selves.
I hope I can perform there again one day.

Sustainability Movie

In room 13 we are entering the out look for some day movie compition.
My group is Lily,Ruby,Be,Renne and Arielle (me), Our movie is about water pollution and how it needs to stop.
It was fun to film because I had to paint my face red, but it smelt really bad and wear a fish costume thing.
I think we did really well and who knows we might actully win, I hope we do wish us luck!

Russian Fudge

In the weekend I had a go at making russian fudge, I liked making It because It was really fun,
I also found It easy. It tasted really yummy  But It had lots of suger which wasnt a problem for me but It was for my parents.

Here Is the recipe I used: (It Is from the chealsea suger website)

Ingredients

3 1/2 cups Chelsea White Sugar
125g butter
3 Tbsp Chelsea Golden Syrup
1/2 cup milk
1/2 tsp salt
200g sweetened condensed milk (half a standard tin)
2 tsp vanilla essence

Method

Place all the ingredients except the vanilla, into a medium-heavy saucepan. Warm over a gentle heat until the sugar has dissolved about 10-15 mins. Bring to a gentle boil and cook for about 5-10 minutes, until it reaches the soft ball stage (120°C).

Remove from the heat and add the vanilla. Beat until the fudge is creamy and thick and has lost its gloss. Pour into a greased 20cm cake pan. Score the top and break into pieces when cold

Dodge Ball Finals

At Tawa Intermediate we had our dodge ball finals!
Room 13 the most awesomest class, were getting ready for our dodge ball game, we were versing room 14, I was worried about playing them because room 14 are very good at dodge ball.

Before the game we were talking over some strategies to take out room 14.We walked over to the hall where our game was held and the excitement started to build in the room, we sat on the sides of the dodge ball court because we were playing in the second game.
Room 15 were playing room 10, it was a good game but sadly room 15 lost (we wanted room 15 to win because they are in the same syndicate as us.)

Finally it was our turn to play room 14, we toke our positions at the starting line, we waited for the whistle to blow, and when it did both classes zoomed to the line to grab the dodge balls.
I never go up to grab a dodge ball because I'm never fast enough. People from both classes started to be aimed at and hit at, I didn't last long in the game so when i sat down on the bench i started to yell strategies at the people that were left. We were getting beaten pretty bad, It was down to Zac vs half room 14, I hoped he would catch it or get the rest of room 14 out, but of corse he was hit.
                                                                                                                                                                   To bad we didn't win but we did come in the top 3, Mrs T said we would have a shared lunch if we came in the top 3 so that's good enough for me.

Ki O Rahi Facts

• Ki o rahi has been played  by Maori for centuries.
• During the first world war, princess Te Puea wanted the game ki o rahi to be revived.
• ki o rahi resurfaced again during world war 2, the Maori battalion would play for money.
• The Maori showed countries like France and Italy how to play ki o rahi.
• In 2005 it was introduced to over 31000 schools in America!
• Ki o rahi is based around the Maori legend of Rahi.

Cheerleading Compition!

Cheerleading is a hard sport, especially when you have to lift people up in the air and throw them back down, on Sunday 5th of August I had to do a lot of that because It was the Wellington cheer-leading compition!

First me and my sister Lily went to the supper market to get food to snack on during the compition because it went on from 12:00 to 5:00, we got chips, chocolate, cruskits, and drinks.
We had to hurry though because the compition was going to start soon.

When we arrived to the place we were competing at, me and Lily walked in and there were cheerleading squads from everywhere including Auckland. I don't know about Lily but I was really nervous.We saw our squad (which was zone) and went up to them, Sally (our teacher) told us it was our turn to practice on the big sprung floor.

when the compition finally began we were one of the first squads to compete, we did really well!
at the award ceremony all of us from zone were hoping that our team came first place Sally came up to me and told me that if we win any prizes that I would have to go and get it.

When the judges began to announce the results the excitement builds and.....................................................Zone comes first! Everyone from Zone were very glad we got a trophy and a big banner.

I'm glad we won and I hope there are more compitions in the future.

Hospital Trip

Having asthma is a pain, you alway's have to take inhalers morining and night to prevent It from happing, and you need to carry a blue inhaler for instant relif if you get asthma during the day.

On a dark night, i asked dad to take me with im to the city to drop my cousin off at work, and he said yes, so we started to drive and when we finally reached the brightly lit city we stopped outside my cousin's work place and when she got out we drove off.

We stopped outside the mall to have something to eat, then we romed around thecity looking at shops. I started to feel a bit weezy and at that point I knew I had asthma.

  When we finally finished at the city we walked to the car and headed for home, I felt worried because I knew I ran out of inhalers, I hoped it would eaze up by the time we reached home but it did'nt.

At home it felt like my throught was closing in, I knew I could'nt stop it so I told my parents and then dad took me to the hospital.

  I was breathless when we arrived at the hospital we sighned in and we had to wait what semed like forever for a docer to come and see me, and when the docter finally camer, she took us to her office and asked me a few qustions and she then took me and dad to a room with a strange machine.

The docter gave me a mask to put around my mouth and then she swiched on the weird looking machine and it helped me breath.

I then got a blue inhaler and I finally got to go home and get some rest, I was so sleepy and by the time I got home It was one o'clock In the morning. I went to my bed and fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow.

Matariki Panels

 
Do you know what Matariki is?  Do you celebrate it? Well in room 13 we definitely do!  Matariki is a cluster of seven stars that rises at the end of may or start of June. Matariki is the Maori new  year and it is to remember those who died in the last year, and it is about new beginnings.

In room 13 we made matariki panels. A matariki panel is a long board split into three sections, the first section, our design had to base around new growth, our second section had to be about you and what is important to us, our last section had to b e about matariki.

To make our panel's we first painted them black with Indian ink, then we had to put masking tape on them, i thought that was the longest bit. We then drew our designs on top of the masking tape, then using a crafting  knife we cut out our designs. Next we painted them and my favourite bit was riping the masking tape off when they dried I peeled them of with Ruby.

My first section is two  purple korus with a new growth symbol in the middle. For my middle section I have two korus to represent my parents and the five little korus on one of them is to represent the children in my family. Finally the last section has seven stars to show the stars of matariki.

I have really enjoyed doing these panels and learning more on on matariki, if I did it again I would be more careful with my cutting.

Cross Country?

I woke up that morring feeling yucky, and funny. I felt like a snail If I wanted to move It felt like It took for ever to get to one place. My head felt very heavy It felt more heavy then my own body weghit.
My mum and dad told me that I didnt need to go to school today what a relif, slugishly I went to bed and stayed there for the rest of the day.

Mothers Day

Yesterday it was mothers day and my mum really enjoyed it because we made her breakfast in bed and gave her a few presents, i bought her a make up bag and filled it with chocolates, my sister gave her slippers and there were a few more.
She really loved everything, i cant wait till next mothers day.

Disco

Yesterday at Tawa Intermediate the school held a disco. I went to my friend zoes house to have a sleep over and so we can get ready for the disco. After we got ready for the disco we toke some photos of all of us (which i will try to upload ) And we left for the disco.It was really fun i cant wait for the next one.

My Passion Post

My passion is Glee because its such a cool program,
my favourite character is Santana, sue, and Brittany. The people that play these people are Naya
Rivera, Jane Lynch,and Heather Morris. Santana is very mean and thinks that she is to cool for school and her best friend is Brittany. Sue is very mean and is the cheerleading coach, she usually pushes students into the lockers. Brittany is not the smartest girl around but she is very nice and always helpful to others.
One of the writers of this awesome program is Ryan Murphy.
 One of my favourite episodes is I Am Unicorn, I cant wait till  Friday for a new episode.

K.O

It was a boiling day at Tawa Intermediate,room 13 was getting ready for there first game of K.O against room 7.
When it was my teams turn to play I stood in line waiting to be tagged by someone so I can try get the guy that was running in between us, as soon as I got tagged, I run as fast as i could but he was to fast for me, so I tagged one of my classmates to get him and they tagged some one else.
When we finished being taggers it was our turn to run, I thought we did really well but when Mr Rickird told us the results it turned out we lost, but we tried our best and that is all that mattered.

Cheerleading

Every Wednesday i do cheerleading, so here is another post on what were working on.
We are learning a dance and in the dance i have to lift alot of people up, and
alot of fast dancing which i still need to work on.
Also next Wednesday is bring along a friend day and they get a free lesson and if they like it they can join up.

Self Defence

At Tawa intermediate most of the year 8 girls learnt self defence in the studio.
We did alot of awesome things like, play games and learnt how to fight of an attacker by punching and kicking.
One of the things i learnt was when getting attacked you yell not scream, this is because if you scream people will think your just screaming because you always hear screaming, but when you yell things out like "help" they will take more notice.
At the end of the lesson we got plastic bangles that says clever,brave,and strong,
i cant wait to go again next week on Monday. :)

My Book Review

This is a book review on a great book called Sunday Girl by Cathy Cassidy,
This book is about a girl called Jude, her family is crazy, her mum is an alcoholic, her grandma is forgetting who Jude, her own grand daughter is, and Jude's mum's boyfriend rides around on his annoying ice cream van.Not only dose she have problem's at home she has alot of them at school.
I really loved this book because it was very hard to put down,I recommend this book to girls between 10-13, I give this book a 8 out of 10. Overall I think if you find this in your local book store or library make sure you get your hands on it. 

Cheerleading!

Hey everyone I have choosen to do a post about cheerlading.
I was going to post on wednsday but I did not get a turn on the computer because I have alot of sisters and a brother who all want a turn on the computer at once.
Anyway, Every wednsday I go to Zone Dance Academy to do cheerleading with my sister and it is very fun. Last time I went we  learnt how to do back walkovers. I still need heaps of work on it but im sure ill get it in no time. (If you dont no what a back walk over is, it is when you do a bridge then you kick you feet over and stand back up). We also practiced our handstands against walls, I almost can do one by myself but still need to work on it.
